Gentle Breathing for Chakra Meditation
By LumenOracle Editors · 10/19/2026 · 1 min read · Chakra Healing

Three gentle breathing practices often paired with chakra meditation — natural breath, slow exhale and alternate-nostril breathing — with clear safety limits.
Why breath comes first
In yoga traditions, breath (prana) is the bridge to meditation. Physically, slow breathing with a longer exhale tends to help many people relax.
1. Natural breath awareness (2 minutes)
Simply notice the breath without changing it.
2. Slow exhale (3 minutes)
Breathe in for a count of 4, out for a count of 6. Never strain.
3. Alternate-nostril breathing — Nadi Shodhana (3 minutes)
- Close the right nostril with the thumb; breathe in on the left.
- Close the left; breathe out on the right.
- Breathe in on the right; switch; breathe out on the left. That is one round.
Skip or adapt if
You are pregnant, have heart or lung conditions, high blood pressure or feel lightheaded — keep to natural breathing and ask a doctor. Avoid breath-holding unless taught by a qualified teacher.
Safety and honesty
Chakra practice is a spiritual tradition, not medical science. It is a relaxation and reflection practice, not a treatment. Stop if you feel dizzy or unwell, never leave a candle unattended, and see a doctor or counsellor for health or mental-health concerns. If you are in crisis, please visit our .
