By LumenOracle Editors · 10/19/2026 · 1 min read · Chakra Healing

How to chant the seven seed mantras (Lam, Vam, Ram, Yam, Ham, Om, silence) gently, with posture, rhythm, counts and common mistakes.
The seven seed sounds
Pronunciation varies by lineage. A common approach is a short vowel ("uh") and a long humming "m" at the end.
Step by step
- Sit comfortably with a straight but relaxed spine.
- Take three slow, natural breaths.
- Breathe in through the nose; on the out-breath chant the syllable, letting the "m" hum.
- Repeat 5–9 times per chakra, or chant all seven from Root to Crown once.
- Sit in silence for a minute afterwards.
Common mistakes
- Forcing volume — a soft voice or a whisper is fine.
- Holding the breath — chant only on a comfortable exhale.
- Expecting a feeling — notice what happens without judging it.
