Refresh outdated link previews
When you share a guide or Library entry, social apps save a copy of its title, description and picture. If we update the page later, they may keep showing the old copy. Here's how to make each one look again.
Before you start: copy the full link from your browser's address bar, for example candle.seeyouguru.com/library/wax-symbols/bird. Adding ?v=2 to the end still opens the same page — change the number each time you need a fresh preview.
Copy a Library entry link
Paste a Library entry link or its address, then copy it to share again.
Use the fresh link for WhatsApp and X; the number goes up each time.
01Facebook
- Sign in to Facebook and open the Sharing Debugger.
- Paste the full link to the guide or Library entry and click Debug.
- Click Scrape Again. Repeat once if the old picture still shows.
This also refreshes previews in Messenger and Instagram direct messages.
Open Facebook Sharing Debugger →02LinkedIn
- Sign in to LinkedIn and open Post Inspector.
- Paste the link and click Inspect.
- LinkedIn fetches the page again; new posts will use the updated preview.
Posts already published keep their old preview. Delete and re-post to show the new one.
Open LinkedIn Post Inspector →03WhatsApp
- WhatsApp has no refresh tool. It reuses Facebook's copy, so run the Facebook steps first.
- Add something harmless to the end of the link, such as ?v=2, so WhatsApp treats it as new.
- Paste the new link into a chat and wait for the preview to appear before sending.
Previews already sent in a chat never change. Send the link again.
04X (Twitter)
- X has no public refresh tool any more. It re-checks pages on its own, usually within about a week.
- To see the update straight away, add ?v=2 to the end of the link before posting.
- Paste the link into a new post and check the preview card before posting.
Older posts keep their old card.
Still seeing the old preview after a day? Clear the app's cache or try sharing from another device — some phones keep their own copy.
